Project overview

The Cylance PROTECT Dashboard is the main view for security professionals needing an overview of their company’s protection environment. It also serves as the entry point into the rest of the product experience. Users will typically analyze summary information on the dashboard, then drill into specific KPIs to further investigate threat activity or to generate reports.

The previous version of the dashboard (shown below) measured and presented the wrong metrics to the user, often resulting in KPIs that displayed little or no data. In need of a refresh, I took feedback from users to gain understanding of what aspects of the threat protection landscape were actually important to them. Additionally, this dashboard is frequently accessed by a variety of different users, each needing to see a slightly different set of data than the other users. From an IT Analyst (who may log in several times a day) to a high-level CTO (who might only check in once every few weeks), the granularity of the information each user needed to assist them in doing their job was varied. To that end, plans to enable RBAC functionality were in the works as well as the ability to resize, add, or remove KPIs to reorganize the layout and provide a more customized experience.
