Mobile App Button Spec
MY ROLE
Visual Design
Project Details
In an effort to update the SuccessFactors mobile app, one example of a universal change was the appearance of our actionable buttons. These buttons appear in many parts of the UI, but most prominently on detail pages for certain transactions. This effort involved taking inventory of all screens where buttons currently existed and developing not only stylistic rules for the new (flat and simple) look, but also parameters for when variants would need to be applied and in which instances. The overall aesthetic is loosely aligned with Fiori, an internal design style used by our parent company, SAP.
Many of the values in the specs refer to a system that is used by SuccessFactors' mobile development team, a practice that was reflective of our mobile dev resources and ability at the time of design. We have since migrated to native iOS (and Android) development and abandoned the vast majority of our proprietary code in order to leverage the performance benefits and streamlined maintenance of doing so.
